The Trailers page: find something to watch

The Trailers page in the Beebo desktop app lets you look through your own library, or see what else is out there, by genre, year and actor. Trailers open in your web browser.

Beta · next release Status: The Trailers page is built and tested but is not in the current downloads (Windows 0.1.57). It needs a TMDB key, and it is hidden from profiles with parental restrictions.

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Open Trailers

    In the Beebo desktop app, click Trailers in the sidebar.

    What you’ll see: A page headed Trailers: “Find something to watch: look through your library, or see what else is out there. Trailers open in your web browser.”

  2. Choose movies or TV shows

    Use the Movies and TV shows buttons at the top of the filters.

  3. Narrow it down

    Type part of a Title, a Year (like 1999 or 1990-1999) or an Actor. Choose Suggest by Most popular or Highest rated. Genre buttons narrow it further, and a title must match every genre you pick. Click Clear filters to start over.

    What you’ll see: “In your library” fills with your matching titles, and “You might be interested in” fills with suggestions.

  4. Watch a trailer, or play the film

    Click Watch trailer on any card. It opens in your default web browser. For a movie you own, ▶ Play opens it; for a show, Open in TV Shows takes you there.

    What you’ll see: A browser tab with the trailer. Suggestions leave out titles you already have. If TMDB has no trailer for a title, the card says so and Beebo opens a YouTube search for it instead.

What is sent

Suggestions and trailer lookups send TMDB the ids of titles, and any actor or title words you type. They do not send your watch history, file names or profile names. Trailers play on YouTube in your own browser, so YouTube sees you the way it sees any visitor; Beebo sends it nothing beyond the address it opens. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

If something goes wrong

The page is empty or says nothing matches

Check your TMDB key in Settings and rescan your library. “Nothing in your movies has been matched to TMDB yet” means the titles have no matches. Actor filters use cast lists Beebo has already downloaded, so a title can be missing until its cast is fetched.

I do not see the Trailers tab

It is not in the current Windows app, and it is hidden for profiles with parental restrictions. Check What’s new for the release.

A trailer did not open

Beebo shows a message on that card. Try again in a moment; lookups are cached and rate-limited so the TMDB service is not overloaded.
