Beebo Entertainment is free software for your own media. Our goal is to keep away-from-home viewing approachable, including when your router makes a direct connection difficult.
For eligible first-time accounts, the plan is to include one month of Tier 1 Beebo Relay as the default managed connection. Tier 1 is planned at CA$3/month for two simultaneous away-from-home viewers after the introduction, only if you choose to subscribe.
You should not need to enter router port numbers to try this managed connection. Final eligibility, duration and service limits will appear when the offer launches.
02 / DURING THE MONTH
Try your own free route.
A few days in, we plan to offer a dismissible reminder to try a direct connection, supported router setup or your own compatible relay. These routes have no Beebo relay fee and no Beebo-managed stream cap. You decide what your equipment and connection can support.
Unless you choose a paid service, the plan is to move you to a smaller free relay allowance. It is intended for lighter viewing, with less speed and usage than a paid plan. No automatic paid renewal is planned.
We are evaluating a 2 Mbps streaming limit. That is a target under test, not an available or guaranteed service speed. The final usage allowance, simultaneous-stream limit and capacity safeguards will be published before launch.
Lower speed can mean a softer picture.
Compatible video may need conversion on the computer hosting your library before it is sent. A small screen can make differences less obvious, but fast motion, fine detail and text can still look different. 2 Mbps is a bitrate limit, not a guarantee of 480p, HD or uninterrupted playback.
Your own connection stays your choice.
The planned free managed-relay limits apply when Beebo supplies that relay. They do not become a quality or stream-count cap on your own direct connection or compatible relay. Internet, equipment and outside-provider charges remain your responsibility.
Reaching the free allowance must be explained in the app, alongside available alternatives. We will not describe a limited service as unlimited or promise access on every network.
BEEBO POINTS REWARDS / PROPOSED
Optional ads. A possible route to service credit.
We are exploring a separate rewards area for people who would prefer to earn credit toward eligible Beebo services. The intended redemption flow needs no linked credit card. This is not an active offer: provider approval, eligibility, earning rates and redemption terms still need to be confirmed.
Off by default. Opt in only if you want to. Free local use and your own connection will not require watching ads.
Your choice each time. See the action, estimated time and points before starting an offer. Declining or dismissing an ad will not remove access already earned or purchased.
No automatic purchase. The intended flow lets you redeem available points for an eligible service period without storing a card or silently starting a paid renewal.
Keep your balance. Our proposed policy is that valid earned points do not expire and remain when you opt out. Final terms must explain account closure, invalid rewards and any program changes.
Clear privacy choices. Before opting in, you will see what data the selected ad provider uses. We will not claim that ads collect no information.
How many ads would cover a subscription?
We do not have a reliable number yet. Completed offers, available ads, region, advertiser demand and confirmed net revenue all affect what can be funded. There is no promise that a fixed number of minutes or ads will cover a month. A day’s limit will be displayed before you start and will depend on provider rules and the rewards budget.
Would the whole app require ads?
No. The plan is an optional rewards section, with ads disabled by default. Beebo Entertainment and your own compatible connection remain usable without watching ads. A paid hosted service would require payment or enough valid service credit under its published terms.
Why offer this?
We want another way to access hosted services without making everyone add a credit card. Operating relays, supporting users and maintaining servers have real costs. Rewards must be funded sustainably before we offer them.
FUTURE NETWORK / MEASURED GROWTH
Grow where the service needs it.
Our longer-term aim is to add server locations where sustained demand and available funding support them. Decisions need measured capacity, latency, operating costs and a safety margin—not just a user count. Automatic provisioning and moving active sessions without interruption are future work, not a promise of the current service.
IDEAS / LEGAL & COST REVIEW
What we’re exploring
These are research ideas, not available features or promised release dates. We want to keep Beebo’s software free wherever possible, with optional Beebo Relay and BeeboVPN services helping fund development. Optional ad rewards are another proposed source of funding: off by default, with no card needed in the intended points-redemption flow. The approval and funding conditions above still apply.
Your games and wireless controllers
We are reviewing whether an optional section could connect to your own emulator software and game files (ROMs) that you have the right to use, with compatible wireless controllers. This proposal does not offer game downloads or tools to bypass copy protection. Owning a physical game does not by itself establish permission to download another copy. Any future integration depends on software licences, game rights, platform rules, local law and device testing.
Posters without setting up your own key
We hope to fund appropriately licensed commercial access to metadata and artwork, so users would not need to obtain their own provider key. That is not available today. Commercial permission, required attribution, privacy terms and ongoing usage costs must be agreed first; obtaining a key alone does not settle those rights. For now, use the current optional poster setup guide with credentials approved for your use, or keep using supported local media without online artwork.
More video formats and conversion options
We are reviewing additional codec options, software licences, possible patent royalties and operating costs. Paying for a licence alone would not add a working format: a supported encoder, suitable host hardware and drivers, a compatible receiving device and real playback tests also matter. We will publish confirmed capabilities and limits as this work progresses. See the current feature and codec comparison for the separately documented status.
